Khalid Mohammed Memorial Scholarship for Women in Real Estate

In 2017, Michelle Muñiz ’16 USD MSRE and the 2016 Woodruff Scholarship winner, established an annual real estate scholarship at the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego to aid in the recruitment and support of female real estate students. Muñiz named the Khalid Mohammed Memorial Scholarship after her late uncle. With the help and support of faculty, alumni and Policy Advisory Board members, Michelle raised more than $50,000 — enough money to endow the scholarship so that her uncle’s name could live on in perpetuity.

Muñiz hopes that through the creation of this scholarship, more women will further advance their careers within real estate.

“My goal in creating this scholarship is to encourage women who have chosen to specialize in commercial real estate as a career to pursue their undergraduate and/or graduate education in the field, become leaders in the industry, and make a meaningful impact within their communities,” says Muñiz. “I believe developing future female leaders and role models will inspire other women to follow suit.”

Thanks to the generosity of those who continue to donate to the endowment, annual awards range from $2,500 to $10,000.

MILITARYFIRST

military couple

MilitaryFirst was created as an initiative to further advance the reach of military and veteran affiliated organizations. Originally conceptualized as a mechanism in which to donate to individuals at risk of eviction or in need of financial assistance to achieve homeownership goals, the initiative has been expanded to give back to the military connected community at large.

Based solely on the nominations of clients and stakeholders, I have committed myself to donating a percentage of my commissions to military and/or veteran organizations in the San Diego area. Nominations are collected throughout the year and are due no later November 30th. Proceeds are donated at the end of each calendar year.

Please join me in serving those who selflessly and courageously serve us all!
